Synopsis
Professor Yoav Mintz completed his medical training at the Hebrew University Medical School followed by residency at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. He completed a surgical fellowship at the University of California San Diego under the mentorship of internationally renowned MIS and robotic surgeons.
Professor Mintz is the first surgeon in Israel to perform robotic assisted surgery, surgery using NOTES (an innovative minimally invasive surgical technique) as well as single port surgery. Professor Mintz is currently the only surgeon in Israel performing the Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy.
Professor Mintz focuses on the development of medical devices for advanced MIS procedures and developing new surgical techniques enabling less invasive procedures for the treatment of high profile diseases. Under his guidance, several start-up companies have successfully developed innovative products, which following preclinical research and initial human operations at Hadassah are now being used worldwide.
At Hadassah Hospital, Professor Mintz serves as the Director of the Center for Innovative Surgery at Hadassah Ein Kerem, Director of the Robotic Assisted Surgery Program, Director of the Hadassah Minimally Invasive Surgery Learning Center and the Director of the Surgical Technology and Innovation Lab. Professor Mintz founded and is acting head of the Hadassah Metabolic Surgery Research Group.
